A customer recently contacted us regarding Aquacide Pellets. Below is the question and our response.

Question:

Will the fish try to eat the (Aquacide) pellets?

DH, Fort Walton, MN

Answer:

Even though many fish will nibble on your toes, on worms, small stones and shiny objects attached to hooks, they do not eat aquatic herbicides.  Aquacide Pellets are 2,4-D based, marble-sized and tan in color. Fish are often attracted to light objects and the pellet can resemble fish food. Fish are curious and they may peck at un-dissolved pellets, but will spit them right out. Aquacide Pellets taste terrible and will not harm fish.

Aquatic herbicides are also available in liquid form.  These options will affect most weeds and algae but not harm fish.

When used according to product label directions most aquatic herbicides and algaecides will not harm fish or any aquatic animals.

Please feel free to e-mail me or post questions you may have and I will respond accordingly.
