Question four in the Q+A Series from some recent correspondence between myself and a customer trying to get rid of Water Willow and Algae as well as using beneficial pond bacteria to get rid of "muck" and dead vegetation.
4- We do have some pretty "elephant ears" and irises that line our lake. Will these chemicals or the spray we will use to kill weeds, kill them as well?
The Aquacide Pellets for the Water Willow can do severe damage and potentially kill both the "elephant ears" and the Iris if you apply them heavily to the growing area. If the Water Willow is located in the same area as both of these plants, you may then need to physically remove the Water Willow, however if they are in different areas you can spot treat with the Aquacide Pellets just for the Water Willow. Be sure to keep the pellets away from the plants you don’t want to harm and they will be fine. (The Cutrine-Plus Granular for algae and the AquaClear Pellets for the dissolving the dead vegetation WILL NOT harm your plants.)
Please feel free to email me or post questions you may have and I will respond accordingly.
