Water Starwort are small delicate weeds usually found in shallow water. It has fine stems that are 10 to 20 cm long with leaves opposite and arranged in pairs. The submersed delicate leaves are a pale green and linear. The upper leaves are rounded and crowded at the top forming a rosette that floats on the surface.
Water Starwort reproduces by seed and stem fragments. Ducks & other waterfowl feed on stems and fruit. Weeds also produce food and shelter for fish and aquatic insects.
Aquacide Pellets will help to control Water Starwort if applied early in the season when weeds are small and rooted on the bottom. If there is a buildup of dead vegetation, mud and/or silt on the bottom, the chemical in Aquacide Pellets may not be absorbed by the weeds' roots.
AquaClear Pellets help clean up bottom muck. Allow 3 weeks before or after herbicide application before applying AquaClear Pellets.
Under that condition or later in the season, we suggest a tank mix of 5 oz. Harvester Liquid, 5 oz. Cutrine-Plus Liquid and 2 oz. Cygnet Plus Liquid (non-ionic surfactant). Add enough water to make 2 gallons of solution. Two gallons of solution will treat 1,000 sq. ft. (10’ x 100’). Thorough coverage of the foliage is necessary. Apply on a calm, sunny day. Do not treat if rain is expected within 8 hours. For foliage beneath the surface, inject under water with a pressure sprayer coming into contact with as much of the weed as possible.
